Peking - Three Forks
About This Spot
Stepping into Peking on Main Street in Three Forks feels like entering a cherished family kitchen where traditions gently simmer alongside genuine warmth. The pace here is unhurried, inviting you to settle in and appreciate a meal prepared with care rather than rushed service or bright, flashy distractions. It’s a cozy, neighborhood haven that quietly stands apart from the typical takeout options, offering a more grounded, authentic taste of Chinese cuisine in the heart of Montana.
The atmosphere carries a comforting simplicity — a reflection of the family who runs it and the steady rhythm of a place where regulars come not just for the food, but for the familiar presence behind the counter and the subtle nod to recipes passed down through years. There’s a quiet pride in every dish that arrives hot to your table, whether it’s the tender, savory notes of green pepper beef or the delicate, perfectly fried crab ragoons that have quietly earned a devoted following.
More than just a menu to navigate, Peking feels like a small window into a Chinese culinary tradition adapted thoughtfully to a Montana setting. The flavors are bold where they should be, yet balanced, and the food isn’t overwhelmed by heavy sauces or syrupy glazes. Here, vibrant egg foo young variations, crispy prawns, and classics like sweet and sour shrimp evoke both familiarity and a genuine sense of place.
What visitors often remember is the unmistakable feeling of being welcomed into something personal. The owners often come out to check in, and the kitchen’s craftsmanship shines beyond the plate — it’s a simple, earnest kind of hospitality that makes a meal feel like more than just eating out. It’s the kind of place where the ordinary act of sharing food reveals a quiet joy in tradition, community, and the little moments that make eating together worthwhile.

Crab ragoons are the best around here! The Chinese food is also perfection! Sometimes I just get two orders of crab ragoons to go and that's it! It's nice having options that aren't just breaded, syrup junk like Panda Express. The food is excellent and better than many options that we're left with.

Great place. Considering that this is in rural Montana, this place is fantastic. The hot and sour soup was flavorful and green pepper beef was also delicious, and this is coming from a Chinese person! A tad too salty for my family’s taste, but all things considered, I would come here again and just ask them to use less salt. This is a family run business and the owner was on site. Really showed his dedication to the business and was very accommodating.

I am of Asia heritage, grew up with 5 course meals, every fork in the right place- this place surprised me on every level. The chef came out to greet us and ask if everything was good! The food came out hot, I could taste quality and it is authentic! Felt like home, family run I don’t expect 100 percent happy service and 100 percent atmosphere - the food is what I came for- and they nailed it. Look forward to visiting again.

Best Chinese food in the Greater Yellowstone area! From Jackson hole to now Three Forks, this is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the area after trying all of them(except Wok, which I don’t plan on trying after this place). I’ll drive out of the way for this place. Mongolian Beef, Lo Mein, Sweet n Sour Shrimp & egg drop soup are all absolutely delicious! The General Tso/Tao chicken is not my favorite I’ve ever had but I’ll take what I can get while living in this area. Well done Peking Chefs, well done.

Best Chinese food ever! We were passing through and stopped to take a look at the Sacajawea Hotel, While we were across the street I noticed the Peking China restaurant. To be honest I chuckled 'how good could the Chinese food be in Montana', I won't make that mistake again. Since we were getting hungry I looked at the reviews and saw that it was rated 4.6 stars, so we figured we'd give it a try. I'm sure glad we did, although the 4.6 stars is underrating it. We're from California ( don't hold that against us, we left) and have had the opportunity to dine at some truly world class restaurants. Peking is hands down the best Chinese food we've had. We shared their crab won tons, prawns with walnuts, and chicken lo mien. Large portions of everything, absolutely fresh and full of flavor. At first I was a little taken back at the prices, but not after tasting the food. Employees were friendly and efficient, bringing each plate as it was cooked, our waitress was very friendly and took really good care of us. As we travel, I will definitely make it a point to come back to Three Forks just for the Chinese food.

This was our first time dining here. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our order included: Sesame Chicken - crispy, and full of flavor. You can customize the spice level. Very large portion. Shrimp and vegetables in lobster sauce - the shrimp were very large and you get a lot of them. The lobster sauce really tasted like real lobster & the fresh steamed vegetables were so tender. Very large portion. Egg rolls - stuffed full of perfectly seasoned pork and tender veggies, with a thick crunchy exterior. Wonton soup - came with 3 wontons plus additional pieces of chicken, steamed broccoli, carrots & peas. The broth was so rich & unctuous. Everything came out piping hot! The Chinese mustard had great heat and the service was super speedy. The atmosphere was minimalistic and too quiet for my preference, but the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The total bill was $57 excluding tip. We will definitely make the 30 minute drive to eat here again.
